My name is Will Benton. I played 60 games of college football over 6 seasons, from 2020 to 2025. Now that my career is over, I want to help the next generation of long snappers reach their potential.
Recruiting is harder than people think
I know how hard, stressful, and overwhelming the recruiting process is. So many unknowns: which showcase camps to go to, how much your ranking actually matters, why a coach won't follow you back, why someone else got the offer instead of you.
There's no one-size-fits-all snap
At Benton Snapping, I focus on the entire body of work that goes into snapping in college. First, simply put, you have to snap the ball at a high level on both punt and short snaps. I devoted a large portion of my life to mastering my form and always looking for ways to improve.
I know that every snapper is different. Some look on punt snaps, some don't. Some have a wide base, some are more narrow. Some are bigger guys better in protection, others are smaller guys better in coverage. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all snapping approach. Each snapper has a unique skillset that I help improve to make them the best possible version of themselves.
Great snappers get overlooked too
Sometimes, even the best snappers don't get noticed. There are plenty of great snappers who don't get recruited the way they should. I believe I can help each high school long snapper reach the level they deserve and find the best fit.
Since I finished playing, I've been working for Red Envelope Sports, an NFL and NIL agency. Between that experience and my connections to current special teams coaches and GMs across college football, I have the tools to give snappers the information and resources they need.
60 games, plenty of highs and lows
I started as a true freshman walk-on for a top 25 team. I recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, and snapped multiple game-winning and game-tying kicks in the final seconds, including the 2024 ACC Championship Game.
I was also benched after the fourth game of the season my sophomore year. I had a terrible moment on the field in the first game of my last year at SMU. And as a sixth-year senior at a new school, I went through the biggest mental battle of my career during fall camp, almost losing my job.
Even in high school, I was one of the first snappers offered in my class, only to have that offer pulled when I tried to commit.
I've learned so much from my own experiences, and it's now my mission to help snappers become the best they can be, and to learn from my mistakes in the recruiting process.
