My name is Will Benton. I played 60 games of college football over 6 seasons, from 2020 to 2025. Now that my career is over, I want to help the next generation of specialists reach their potential.
Recruiting is harder than people think
I know how hard, stressful, and overwhelming the recruiting process is. So many unknowns: which showcase camps to go to, how much your ranking actually matters, why a coach won't follow you back, why someone else got the offer instead of you.
There's no one-size-fits-all recruiting path
At Benton Specialists, everything is built around the position I know from the inside. I devoted a large portion of my life to mastering my craft as a long snapper, and I bring that same real, lived understanding of what coaches actually look for to every kicker, punter, and long snapper I work with.
I know that every specialist is different. Some have offers lined up early, others are still fighting to get noticed. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to recruiting. Each specialist has a unique path, and I help build a plan around theirs.
Great specialists get overlooked too
Sometimes, even the best specialists don't get noticed. There are plenty of great kickers, punters, and long snappers who don't get recruited the way they should. I believe I can help each one reach the level they deserve and find the best fit.
Since I finished playing, I've been working for Red Envelope Sports, an NFL and NIL agency. Between that experience and my connections to current special teams coaches and GMs across college football, I have the tools to give specialists the information and resources they need.
60 games, plenty of highs and lows
I started as a true freshman walk-on for a top 25 team. I recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, and snapped multiple game-winning and game-tying kicks in the final seconds, including the 2024 ACC Championship Game.
I was also benched after the fourth game of the season my sophomore year, and as a sixth-year senior at a new school, I went through the biggest mental battle of my career during fall camp, almost losing my job.
Even in high school, I was one of the first snappers offered in my class, only to have that offer pulled when I tried to commit.
I've learned so much from my own experiences, and it's now my mission to help specialists become the best they can be, and to learn from my mistakes in the recruiting process.
